Congratulations to Team "Wireless Charging" (idea 56). We are really excited for all finalists and a really big thank you to all participants for your interest in this challenge!

We got over 200 submissions! 65 ideas got one or more TAPAS boards, 10 submissions were presentation-ready.
And now we have 5 finalists! YEAH ūüėÉ The finalist's idea numbers were 40, 56, 68, 212 and 213.

Intelligent Solar Pure Sine wave power inverter and Charger

Goal and Technical Details:

Idea of the project is to design cost effective solution which gives maximum usability of Solar generated power (from minimum number of solar panels) in a remote area or for developing countries where electricity is not available even in major areas and affording more solar panels is costly.

Usually people are able to afford only 1 or 2 solar panels in developing countries along with charge controller and inverter which are able to produce power roughly between 55-70% efficiency. Hence this contribute of adding more solar panels to be able to use power and charge batteries for use in night time which increase overall cost even more and still does not produce enough fulfill basic needs. 

This project will use SDI to maximize the power output using MPPT and generate pure sine wave AC power for utilities. Further System will be responsible for increasing the usability of the Solar power by intelligently using battery and solar energy together to be able to provide more power when there is need to drive some other power components like (Water pump to fill water tank)  without compromising low battery charge at the end of the day. So that battery can even last longer at night. System will also be able to deduce if it will be able to keep battery full (maximum charge) at the end of the day and perform few automated task for more power components as explained earlier which can be set by the user through simple buttons/menu. System will also be able to inform user if it can handle more power manually at particular (deduced) time through alarm or beep without compromising battery charge at the end of the day.

Setup will use Tapas SDI for complete power management of the system and further there can a a wifi module to provide statistic and warning to the user. For even cheaper solution there can be a Bluetooth module which can inform user about statistics and controlling from cheap handset which only support Bluetooth and direct communication is possible.

    Hi Zubair,

    Don't forget that the submission deadline for your presentation is on 24th of June! We are already curious to see the results of your project :-) Keep in mind that you still have time to work on the implementation of your idea after the submission!
